It is important to remember that words have meaning.

The word 'diversity' means a group of people in one place who are different from each other. A group with various racial, ethnic, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds bringing varieties of lifestyles, experiences and interests. Synonyms include variety, assortment and heterogeneity.

Antonyms are similar, sameness and homogeneity.

The word 'equity' means to be fair and impartial. It is to be unbiased, reasonable, evenhanded and non-discriminatory.

Equity is seen in good sportsmanship and the ideal of blind justice. The opposite of equity is unfairness, bias and prejudice.

'Inclusion' means to welcome all people regardless of differences, giving equal access to opportunities while removing barriers like discrimination and intolerance. The opposite is omission, removal or leaving out.

'Racism' is defined as prejudice, discrimination or antagonism against people because of their differences; usually their racial or ethnic group. Characteristics of racism are a distain for differences, inequity, discrimination and non-inclusion.

For those who do not believe in diversity, equity and inclusion, there is a word to describe that. The antonyms for these words are the definition of racism. It is time to admit, if that shoe fits, we must call it a shoe.
