Rage Against the Regime – and Help a Neighbor!
50501 Columbus is organizing the above event at the Statehouse this coming Saturday, 2-4pm. When you show up, please bring one of the items listed above. This is not an Indivisible Central Ohio event but we are encouraging you to show up. Wear your blue Indivisible Central Ohio shirt and spread the word about the August 9 "Hands Along High Street” event!

Delaware for Good and Reynoldsburg 50501 are having their own events as well! Check out the Reynoldsburg flyer below and find Delaware info at this link.

Be a Link in the Chain!
On Saturday, August 9, activists and concerned Americans of all stripes will form a human chain of resistance 8 miles long on the public sidewalk along the west side of High Street from Route 161 in Worthington all the way to downtown Columbus.

Join us! Be a link in this powerful chain as WE STAND UNITED in defense of fundamental American values and against the corruption, cruelty, and tyranny of the Trump administration.

The event has a two-step sign up process.

  1. Sign up for the event via Mobilize HERE, then

  2. Pick a spot along the route via Sign Up Genius, HERE. We’ve divided the 8-mile route into 27 segments, each about a quarter-mile in length. HINT: Pick a segment that’s relatively empty! Here’s a map showing the location of all 27 meetup places along the route.

Once you’re signed up:

  • Recruit your Friends: To make Hands Along High Street a success, we need thousands of resisters from all over Central Ohio. So here’s your challenge: Please reach out to 10 friends and recruit them to join you on Aug. 9. Share with them our Statement Of Values. If they agree that we need to stand united in support of these fundamental American principles, ask them to go to Mobilize and register, then pick the same segment as you on SignUp Genius so you can all participate together! We can even add your group name to the slot on the sign up!

  • Sign up to be a marshal on your segment of the route. You will help make sure people stay safe and spread out along the entire segment. This is easy, and necessary to make sure everything runs smoothly. There will be a Zoom meeting to prepare you. To sign up, send an email to: wpa@westervilleprogressivealliance.org with your name, phone number and the segment you’ll be in.

Indivisible Central Ohio Social Media

We want to say a huge THANK YOU to the ICO members who are managing our social media accounts! Bailey, Mishska and John, Susan, and Nicholas (with help from Angie) are keeping us current and helping to spread the word.

Help us grow our impact and reach by FOLLOWING these accounts, and LIKING and SHARING their posts!

Here are those links!

The ICO accounts should give you plenty of content to share. But if you’re looking for more, Indivisible national has a social toolkit that tracks Trump's most unpopular policies and biggest failures, then provides social media posts about them that you can easily share out. Sharing ICO and national anti-Trump, pro-truth messages might be the easiest act of resistance you can do, but it’s still important and will help us have an impact!

Are you running for office in 2025?
If you are one of the amazing Indivisibles assuming the challenge of running for public office in 2025, we want to know! Please send us an email with your contact information and the office you are running for.

Pop up Protests…when there isn’t time to formally organize
Sometimes the Trump regime does horrific things so suddenly, there’s no time to plan a protest in response. At times like that, we may call for a 'rapid response protest.’ If/when that happens, we’ll send out an email and include the list of locations below.

Protect the Veto!
On July 21, 61 Republicans voted to override Veto #66, which would:

  • ban key types of school renewal levies (such as emergency levies);

  • ban replacement levies;

  • force some levies to be split into two separate votes – confusing voters and causing more levies to fail.

Twenty-seven Democrats and one Republican – Scott Oelslager – voted against overriding Veto #66 and stood up for Ohio schools and first responders. Democrats have been consistently united in standing up for communities throughout the budget process. Ten legislators opted to skip the vote, which, in this situation, had the same effect as voting no.

Veto #66 won’t become law unless the Ohio Senate also votes to override it. The Senate is expected to schedule a session soon, but has not yet done so. In the meantime, you can let your senator know how you feel about the House vote to override veto #66.

Tell your senator NOT TO OVERRIDE the governor’s “budget veto #66”!

SUGGESTED SCRIPT from Rachel Coyle:

Hello. My name is [NAME], and I am a voter in your district. My zip code is [ZIP CODE]. I’m asking you not to override ANY of the governor’s budget vetoes. I’m deeply disappointed that the House voted to override one of the governor’s vetoes – veto 66. Ohio obviously needs property tax reform, but our Republican governor vetoed those budget items for a reason. Those items are poorly thought out. They will cause more harm than good. Instead, you should look at ideas like the property tax “circuit breaker” used by other states. Take the time to work with experts and find solutions that won’t hurt our schools and first responders. Please just let the budget remain as-is. Does [LEGISLATOR] promise to vote NO on any budget veto overrides? I will be sharing your responses with my networks and urging more people to call you. Thank you.
