If you’ve been going to protests in Ohio at all in the past 7 or so years, you’ve probably seen a photographer there, documenting central Ohio’s resistance to Trump and much more. That’s the amazing and indefatigable Paul Becker, a truly extraordinary photographer, with equally extraordinary commitment, tenacity, and staying power. We want to take this opportunity to thank Paul for his powerful photographs, and for generously sharing his work with us and so many other resistance groups. His collected work is an ever-growing archive of the progressive movement in central Ohio. Take a look at Paul’s latest album from this past weekend’s Tesla protest.

This week’s Actions!
1. Tell the OPSB that there must be public input for energy infrastructure. DEADLINE to comment is 9-18
In May, Gov. Mike DeWine signed House Bill 15, major legislation that seeks to increase energy generation to meet rising electricity demands. Among other things, HB 15 ordered the Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) to create a 60-day approval process for a large gas plant if it is “behind the meter” – meaning it would power a single private customer such as a data center. Normally approving a major energy plant takes one or more years, with an application running thousands of pages, public comments, a staff investigation, a public hearing, and an adjudicatory hearing. But that is not possible in just 60 days.
The OPSB has now posted draft rules for the 60-day accelerated review project. Now it’s our turn. Tell the OPSB that any application to build major energy infrastructure requires ample public input.
Note: The comment submission site is having difficulty with electronic submissions. If the link above is not working for you, submit your comment by email. Here's how:
Put your comment into the body of an email message.
Put in the subject line: Public comment on Case No. 25-0757-GE-BRO

2. Get ready for the fall statehouse session
The Ohio statehouse is back in session. Get familiar with the bills that will need attention HERE (ohiobills.wtf).
Join the group taking action to protect immigrants
We’ve mentioned before the group that formed to ask local businesses to post signs showing their support for immigrants. This past weekend, they visited 33 businesses in the Short North. Here’s their progress report:
12 businesses said yes
11 businesses said no, most citing corporate policy
10 businesses need follow up, most due to needing owner or management approval
“It’s worth noting that 2-3 of the restaurants that said they couldn't post the signs due to corporate policy shared their personal support and told us that they've been trained on not letting ICE or law enforcement in to protect their employees. Overall, interactions were nearly all positive, even when businesses were not able to post signs due to policy.”
If you are interested in getting involved or learning more, please sign up here and you’ll be contacted by someone to get you onboarded into the team. Questions? Email the group at OMRsnowflakes@gmail.com.
